Temple of Heaven, Beijing 天坛,北京 by Andy*Enero

The The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven where the recent New Year's celebration in Beijing took place, is but the most appropriate cliche picture to start off my China tour series. The Temple of Heaven, literally the Altar of Heaven (simplified Chinese: 天坛; traditional Chinese: 天壇; pinyin: Tiāntán; Manchu: Abkai mukdehun) is a complex of Taoist buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. It is regarded as a Taoist temple, although Chinese Heaven worship, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, pre-dates Taoism.
Temple of Heaven (中文: 天坛) is a tourist attraction, one of the Religious places in Beijing, China. It is located: 317 km from Tianjin, 464 km from Tangshan, 800 km from Shijiazhuang. Read further
