Gloucester Cathedral is a cathedral found in Gloucester, England in the north of the city near the river. It started with the foundation of an abbey built for Saint Peter in 678 or 679.
Harry Ron and Hermione find Filtch's cat petrified and the writing "The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir beware" here in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).
The cloisters of the Cathedral were used in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) as the corridors to Gryffindor House, where the password "Caput Draconis" will gain access initially.
Gloucester Cathedral appears again in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) as Harry and Ron watch the students heading for classes and are told to attend Prof. Slughorn's class by McGonagall.
Designed in the early 1300s, the cathedral in southwest England is a structural gem. A visit to the surrounding area offers some of England's most varied landscapes.
