Kowloon Walled City

Kowloon Walled City was a tiny Chinese enclave in Hong Kong.

It was a military fort for hundreds of years, but later became a very dense settlement. In 1980, the city had about 35,000 people on about 20,000 m² of land, making it one of the most densely populated places on earth. It was torn down in 1993, and a park called Kowloon Walled City Park was built in 1994.

The area where Kowloon Walled City was located is now called Kowloon City. It is part of the Kowloon City District of Kowloon, Hong Kong.

Once the site of a military fort, and then later the infamous Kowloon Wall City, and finally torn down before the British handover. This park is steeped with history.

Great place for a walk on a sunny day. There are seats all around the park to sit and have quiet, personal time or read. There is also a waterfall inside which is cool

Filled with rich history, the park is well preserved and very relaxing.

A strategic point on the peninsula since the 16C, this was a no man's land where illegal activity flourished for almost a century til it became a park in 1987. – Green Guide Editor
