The Tokyo National Museum (東京国立博物館 Tōkyō Kokuritsu Hakubutsukan) or TNM is the oldest and largest museum in Japan.
TNM collects houses, and preserves a of art works and archaeological objects of Asia. In the collection, there is an emphasis on Japan.
The museum is in Ueno Park in Tokyo.
TMN was in 1872.
In 1882, the museum was established in its Ueno Park location.
The museum went through several name changes. It was called the Imperial Museum in 1886. It was known as the Tokyo Imperial Household Museum from 1900 through 1947.
